Day 6!

The next day we woke up ready early to go Atving! It was raining still, but they told us that it was actually a lot better when it is raining cause then there is mud/puddles/and it is not too hot in the helmets. This was my first time on one, and I was very nervous. So we did a trail run, and I thought that maybe I should get on a double with Dave. But, Dave reassured me that I would be fine. A little while into it, I changed ATVs with Dave and it was such a better ride for me!

This was one of the first hills and our guide told me to just keep it on gas and not to stop. So i went and I really just followed the girls in front of me.

Well, the girls got some how in stuck and I thought that I was going to run into them and so I stopped and got stuck too. So the tour guide told me to trust him and he would help me up the hill and not fall off. I told him that I was all over the place and he basically told me to use my muscles and I would be fine!

I started to relax and got use to the ATV! Dave had a blast, and just LOVED it!

We went through a lot of different fields such as banana/papaya/yucca.

We stopped and ate breakfast, once again eggs and gallo pinto!

Then we went up to the Arenal waterfall, it was so pretty!

This isn't the best picture, which I was a little bummed about! Oh well!

I am so glad that looking back I did it on my own! It was a blast after I got the hung of it!

After we ate lunch and waited for our transfer. We checked out at noon and wasn't picked up till almost 3. So we hung out in the lobby and got on the computer. After getting way muddy and wet; I had a hard time warming up even thought it wasn't that cold.

We traveled for a good 2 hours on TERRIBLE roads. But we finally got to Monteverde, just in time for the sunset!

Our hotel! It as very nice, we stayed at El Establo that was up a hill. It reminded me of the Canyons in Park City. It was very windy/cold/rainy there! We went into town and got some food, it only cost 4 bucks round trip to go in. Since there was a lot of pizzeria we tried out on. I can't say it was that good. But we were hungry, and we didn't have to pay for the water (oh and the water from the sink is great because of the rainforest)

Since it was so humid, we had a hard time dying things there. It would take about a day and half to dry thing. At that place it cost about 15 bucks for 7 lbs of clothes so we opted to just wash the muddy things and dry the shoes. I love this picture cause of whats going on and then most of all Dave sunburned legs!

Day 5!

So Tuesday morning was nice we got to sleep in!!!! So we got to breakfast a little bit before it closed. They had omelets with the gallo pinto so that was nice, and I love the fruit especially the pineapple!

This is part o the pool, which I thought it was cool! So after breakfast we headed into town and enjoyed the touristy town of La Fortuna! We went to the bank, which took almost an hour to get through the line. They are just slow there! Then we walked into different shops and bought a few souvenirs for those helping us out and our kids! Then we went to a bakery and enjoyed some sweets. However, there sweet down there isn't what I would so is sweet. But, Dave got one of his favorites treats when he was down there. It is called orrayha, I thought they were actually good. Then we went to another bakery and got bread/ham/cheese for lunch the next day.

This is where they keep there trash, so it is off the ground to keep animals away from it!

This is there high school, I felt that the schools down there were very rundown. But all the high schools where green and all the elementary schools where blue!

After we came back from town we just relaxed, which it was very nice and green there. I really like it there!

Our room was behind all this greenery! It was nice cause we felt very secluded!

I thought this was pretty, and you could also see the tiled roofs. But since it was very humid and rainy; the roofs grew stuff on it!

That afternoon we went on a tour, we went on a nature hike around Arenal volcano. It was awesome to be in a rainforest. We drove up to the point where we started the hike. On the way up we saw this monkey! It was our first monkey that we saw in Costa Rica! We were pretty excited!

This was our tour guide Sadie, and our Driver. It was just Dave and I, which was so nice cause she spent a lot of time answering questions we had about the area and the rainforest! There were many groups that came behind us and left before us!

Everything was so green! There actually wasn't lot of flowers there was a lot more greenery!

We saw this frog and it was crazy how camouflaged it was!

It started to rain on our hike, and our guide let me use her poncho (since we didn't think it was going to rain!). It was a very light rain, but since we were under the trees it was heavier! So Dave was thankful that Jeff let him use one of his hats!

While we were on on hike we did here the volcano erupt! The rainforest was awesome to be in!

After the tour we went to Trabacon Hot Springs! We had dinner, which was amazing. It had lots of vegetables and salads! It was a Italian based buffet! This is the dessert table. It wasn't fond of the desserts, but we tried the different ones!

Then after dinner we spent about 2-3 hours in the different hot springs that they had! It was very relaxing! They even had this little water slide on one of pools that spit you out on the bottom! It was fun. It was kind of fun to have it rain the entire time! Next time we would go on the morning hike and have lunch and then go in the hot tubes so we could see how beautiful it was!

Day 4!

Today was Monday, we woke up early to caught a shuttle bus to take us rafting! I don't have any pictures from rafting! However, we did buy a CD with pictures of us and the beautiful scenery that we rafted through! So rafting was a BLAST. This was Dave's first time and my second. We drove up the river Pachu. So we got on the river around 10ish and rafted for about 4 hours. We had an awesome guide!! We went on class 3-4 rapids. By the end we were ready for class 5 rapids. The water was lower since it is the summer time there, but our guide made it so much fun, we would stay in rapids longer then any other raft to make our adrenaline go up! He would have half of us turn around and paddle backwards and then we would go in circles down the rapids to make the rapids more exciting! We jumped in the water many times and swim in the river in rain forest it was amazing! We loved it! After the trip we ate lunch and then they transferred us back to our hotel and we caught another shuttle to Arenal or La Fortuna! The pictures below are the pictures we took on the way to Arenal.

The driving down there is crazy!!!! They pass all the time, I couldn't believe how many times I thought we were going to hit someone or a car!

(You might be able to tell, but Dave and I both both sunburned. But Dave got fried on his legs!!!)

We finally got to our hotel; they welcomed us and had us sit on these couches and then drove us to our room on a golf cart. It was off the beaten path, which was nice to get away from all the tourism that is in the city! But, since it was far from the town it would have cost 16 buck to take a taxi about 3 miles max. So we decide to eat at the restaurant their!

This is what Dave got, and I just ate off it! It was very pricey (they charged us for our water!)

Since Arenal has a waterfall, they made the bathroom into a scene of the waterfall it was kind of cool!

Do you like the King size bed? I am only 5'5, it was very short and way long!

This was our porch it was so nice and secluded! There will be pictures tomorrow of the scenery! It was great, we really like it there!
