Happy Meal

This past Monday Jonathan earned his turn to go get his own and very first Happy Meal! He was excited beyond excited! He barley eat any of it and we took it home! But I was glad that he met his goal, that was what was important!

Some random things we have been up to!

This past Sunday Dave was in charge of FHE and he did his lesson on righteous examples- like Captain Moroni! The kids loved Daddy's tent that he made! He always is so creative!

During quiet time, Sarah rarely sleeps! She usually just destroys what she can! But on Saturday she was so tried I went in there before going to the Women's Conference and this is how I found her!
Being like Mommy!

Enjoying cooking with Mom! The kids just love helping me, they always want to do it by themselves!!

Jonathan's Surgery

So Last Wednesday, Septyember 22, Jonathan had another surgery, the first one he had when he was 8 months old. Since he has been potty trained Dave and I have noticed some leakage, we finally made it to the Doctors and as Dr Snow calls it- he sprung a leak! Or in other terms he has a fistula, and the also wanted to make Jonathan's stream stronger! So Wednesday was the big day!
The night before Daddy gave Jonathan a blessing and he watched some pre op video on Primaries website- so helpful. While after watching it, he was super excited. Yes, he didn't know the pain that was going to come with it he was just excited for all the toys and wagon ride! So he had a hard time going to sleep!!!
So Wednesday Morning I woke him up way before 6 am so he could have some juice before he had to be NPO! Then we drove up to Primaries (Dave had to work and Sarah went over to Papa's- thanks so much!), he once again was super excited!
When we got there, we checked in and Jonathan started to play! So many different toys to play with.

Then they called us back, and Jonathan got his weight and height and went back to a room to change into hospital clothes and be assessed by the Nurse Practitioner. Once we went into the room, he became very unsure of what was happening and then they put his patient wrist band on and it was down hill from there! But then when the NP came in she was great and wanted to know what put him over the top? So she took off the wrist band and talked to us and took her time and talked to Jonathan. So was great!!!!
Our little Jonathan came back to himself! Then he was able to so and play in the wagon, he was super excited!

Enjoying himself!!! But he didn't enjoy himself too long cause they were ahead of schedule and so he went in the waiting room to take some versed. Which was hard cause he still wanted to play with all the knew toys, and so the nurse brought over a toy that he wanted to play with. Then he sat on my lap and took the medicine and said it was spicy! Then we both worked on his hospital buddy, then he soon just watched tv! Then it wasn't took long before the OR nurse, Dr Snow and then anesthesiologist came and talked to us. Then he took a wagon ride to the OR and was just fine with the medicine abroad. Dr Snow had told me that it would take about 45 minutes, so I went to the waiting room for the parents and read and talked to Dave and my Mom. I tried to rest, but it was hard. But I did a lot better this time then last time. Then by an hour and 15 minutes I was starting to worry cause it was only suppose to be 45 minutes. It ended up taking and hour and half- but he did great. They just found some more strictures and tunneling, but Dr Snow fixed him all up. I really like Dr Snow he is a great MD. Then they had me go back to recovery and Jonathan was crying and in a lot of pain. they gave him some morphine and I held him, he just didn't like all the wires/ivs/blood pressure cuffs on. He finally calmed down. They moved us to the second hard of recovery, and he was upset and not doing great. The nurse gave him some lortab, and she left me to calm him down. He finally was distracted with the TV and cartoons, and then he finally started to drink and had a Popsicle. Then he passed some gas, and I took him to the bathroom to change his underwear. Once he stood he realized that he had a catheter in. He said screaming "Mom there is something in my penis." I couldn't stop from laughing cause it was quiet comical. I talked to him about the need for it, and why he had to have it in. That was another hurdle that we had to overcome. Then he took some Motrin, and he was feeling pretty good and he didn't want to go- he wanted to watch cartoons! We got our discharge prescriptions and left in this fun wagon ride.
So he got in the car and was feeling hungry, so we stopped at Wendy's on the way home. But once he got the food he wasn't very hungry and feeling good. But he wanted to make sure I saved them. He ended up throwing up in the car! No fun! Once we picked up Sarah and got home, he was feeling good.
Ready to eat! We all rested and then went up to the pharmacy to get his medicine. Jonathan walked very gingerly and had to have help with getting up to things that he could usually do. That night he just wanted to be held. He went to bed, but woke up a few times in pain and emptying his catheter.
Thursday
We read a lot of watched different shows. It was hard to keep him down. He continued to be very needy. But, I expected it- so we hung around the house. He took two baths that day, which he didn't want to get into but after getting in he felt better. He took his meds around the clock. That night he went t bed and woke up in pain and was leaking. Later he woke up again and he was leaking again. I was afraid the surgery failed, so as I could on
Friday
I called to nurse, but I soon figured out that it was leaking around the catheter. I put more saline in the catheter and that was an adventure with Jonathan. Cause he is very protective of his penis area. Friday over all was a HARD day. Later he got some meds to help with bladder spasms, and the nurse told me that he had a uti coming into the surgery so they needed to switch the antibiotic. That night it was better, he just woke up really early.
This is me reading to Jonathan and Sarah- Sarah is acting like she is taking a picture of me!
Sarah was a great sister very concerned with Jonathan and wanting to hold him!
Saturday
Jonathan was back to himself, and just dying to get out! We went over to Grammy's and Papa's. Dave got a ticket from my Dad and had an extra ticket so we decided since Jonathan was doing so good he could go with Dad!
He was super excited! And wanted to wear his BYU sweatshirt even though it was hot out!
He slept great and woke up early!
Sunday
He was doing great and didn't think twice about going to church. Well, it was very a HARD three hours. Sacrament was difficult, just not obeying. Then he went to share time and they took him out, and he had a fever- which I knew was from the uti cause we couldn't get the right abx till Monday. Jonathan DIDN'T want to go home. So we sat and eat some apples I had. Then I was going to go to Relief Society and take Jonathan, but he saw his class and he wanted to go. So I tried again, soon they came in and said he was hitting. Well, we went home. He was not doing good, I gave him some Tylenol. That night Dave and my Dad gave him a blessing.
Monday
I couldn't wait for today cause he was suppose to get his catheter out! Well, he didn't cause Dr snow wanted him to be on his abx for two good days. I was disappointed, I had this thought man I am tried and ready for this to be done. Think about all the mothers that have children that have tube feeds or are chronically sick. I was so thankful for healthy children! Jonathan was getting use to his catheter and got his new abx.
Tuesday
Doing great, adapting to life with a catheter. He was wishing that he could run- but didn't complain. Daddy made this for Jonathan to help entertain him. They were going on a plane ride on Monday!

Wednesday- Has finally arrived. He is doing great, and I will take out the catheter tonight! I am so ready, and so is Jonathan! I work tomorrow and am so thankful I have been home to take care of him this entire week! I love my little boy!

Preschool

Preschool this week is on Father's. It is very enjoyable to me to be able to teach the kids preschool and see what they retain and understand. Dave has started to help me add a little something more to the lessons each week, which the kids just love! This is Jonathan and Sarah dressed up like Daddy!

Autumn is here!

Autumn is here! This past Saturday turned out to be a nice one, I was put on call which was good because Dave had an interview in SLC. So I was able to be with the kids, so went with to fabric stores with my Mom trying to figure out the color scheme of that I want to do for this baby girl with the blankets, car seat and canopy cover and things like that! The kids did pretty good and at the last store we made the decision, which was hard. That afternoon Jonathan had a birthday party for Luke and Lacey and he was so EXCITED! Then after the party Kristi put an idea in the kids head to go to the mountains because that is what they were doing. So we went up to see the fall colors, which was very nice. We usually don't seem to get up there till the leaves are almost falling off- it was good to go early! Jonathan loved it hen we finally decided to get out and take a little hike/walk/run!

This is the best picture we could get of them together! Oh well!
Mother and Daughter!
Jonathan was far ahead of us enjoying the outdoors!

Sarah trying to keep up with Jonathan

Long Update once again!

So today I looked at my blog and I relized that I haven't updated since the 3rd, that it was high time! With the kids down and Dave working late, I thought it was a good thing to do!
So this was back on Labor day, in the morning we cleaned our garage! It was much needed! It is so nice to have it clean once again! I thought that I took some good ones, but I guess not!

This is how the kids entertained themselves!
That afternoon, we went up to Liberty land and used our passes that we got! It was very busy, but Jonathan had a blast. And it was fun to do it with Craig and Liz. Kaitlyn and Jonathan enjoyed a lot of the same rides. Then we had a nice BBQ at my parents!
This is a cute picture of story time at night, Jonathan loving his sister!
So I am trying to grow Sarah's hair out, and am also trying to do it different ways. Kristi sent me a blog about how to do little girls hair. So I tried a new one, I thought this was cute. It was right after I was done, however it didn't stay very well!
This was weekend we found out what we were having!
A GIRL!!!
We are excited, but it was a surprise because I had a feeling that it was a girl!
I just bought different fabrics for the different projects that I want to do for her! I am excited. I went out of my comfort zone (which was really hard) and am not doing red but Hot pink/light pink/ray/orange. It is very cute!

Magic Tree House Series

One of the books that we read at Bedtime is The Magic Tree House Series. Jonathan loves it. They are chapter books that have one or two pictures in each chapter, which helps to keep to keep his attention. I really like the books cause they go to a different time in the past or areas in the world. Jonathan and Sarah love Jack and Annie. At first I didn't have Sarah listen to them, but now I do she tries to listen a little bit. The rule is if she doesn't stay seated then she has to go to bed. At first I wasn't sure that Jonathan was listening, but then he surprises me with questions of something I just read! I am trying to up load a video of Jonathan talking about the books. It was really cute Jonathan lined all these books up and then was counting them, he is great at counting up to 8 (and there really was 8 some are on top of each other).

Preschool

This past week we started Preschool at home! Jonathan loves it, he was having a hard time going to Montessori at the end; he just wanted to be at home. So w started doing Mother Goose Time and the theme for September (or till we finish) the topic is family, pets, and me. I enjoy teaching the kids and having preschool with both Sarah and Jonathan, they seem to love it too!
